Dr Luck is a general paediatrician with an interest in infectious diseases and treatment of congenital infection. She works with Prof Griffiths in the Department of Virology UCL and the PIDRG at St George's University Hospital to conduct multinational, multicentre collaborative treatment studies in association with the US 'Collaborative Antiviral Study Group'.
With the UCL/PIDRG research collaboration she has also led studies defining natural history of viral load in babies treated for congenital CMV and been involved with projects evaluating the integration of CMV testing within the newborn hearing screening programme.
She is a core member of the European Congenital CMV Network (ECCI) and has established a UK database monitoring treatment of congenital CMV in the UK. She is now co-ordinating a larger European database initiative to include all babies with congenital CMV infection throughout Europe in order to better evaluate the spectrum of CMV disease being encountered by clinicians, the outcomes with or without treatment and to more clearly define areas of unmet clinical need.
